*Note: The name of the original post was "Flushing Poop and Killing Otters." I changed it due to Japanese spammers. My hypothesis is that the Spam is because of the word "Poop." **
**"Killing Otters" also invites the Spam, so I will try adjusting the title again. Of course, it likely has nothing to do with the title.
We compost, we recycle. Most of our garbage now is made up of cat litter. If we could only find another way to dispose of it, we'd reduce our carbon footprint/pawprint enormously.
So we've replaced our clay litter with corn husks, which can either be composted with the waste matter or flushed down the toilet. I've been using the latter method of disposal.
Strombeek is so excited that her potty matter will no longer be wasting away in a landfill that she shakes like a dog. Or maybe she always does this when she gets out of the potty box? It's a little weird.
I'm so proud of this "green" change I've make until I discover that cat feces and otters are an unhealthy combination. (Which begs the question of what is a healthy combination with cat feces?) I don't want my cats' poop to contribute to otter deaths! There always seems to be a catch.
