The original photo shoot (shown below) involved a set consisting of lots of crepe paper around a white box and all these ribbons.
In my head, the box and crepe paper suggested a cabana. And the ribbons, I guess, were supposed to be reminiscent of something like this...

But this doesn't have the same kind of shipwrecked in the land before time sort of feel. So, ultimately it worked out, but the ribbons ended up looking kind of silly.
The final calendar scene seemed reminiscent of August because, of course, it's set at the beach. But August also has that sort of epic feel, perhaps because it's impossible for me not to think of it as the last month of summer vacation. August is the month during which you're on the brink of some new adventure, possibly involving aliens or dinosaurs, or being stranded indefinitely on a beach somewhere. It's difficult to know for sure. That's August.
