What Coffee with Cats is NOT. . .

Coffee with Cats is not a tribute to the coffee bean specially processed by the civet's digestive track.

Coffee with Cats is not a fetish page devoted to the cat cafes of Japan.

What is Coffee with Cats? Keep reading to find out.

The Valentine's Day Card that Started it All

The first of the Photoshopped spectaculars, created for my husband in homage of a poster he found in Cairo with a similar disregard for proportion or scale. That's us on the roof. But that's not our real house.

Stormin' the Kibble Kastle

Since the Cat Castle renovations were proven to be inadequate, it was time to start anew with a fresh castle--The Kibble Kastle.

Louie comes to check it out. Strombeek insists that I've done it this time--there's no way she can possibly fit.

Cat Castle Renovations

The vet said Louie could have kibble as long as I kept it away from Strombeek. I thought some simple renovations to The Cat Castle would make this possible. So I cut off the left side of the drawbridge and reattached it to the wall with a twist tie. Now I could put the kibble inside where Louie could get it while keeping the big girl out.

But with Strombeek, nothing is ever so simple.

Gordita Visits the Vet

Strombeek was quite a hit at the vet. All the vet assistants had to come in to ooh and aah at her bowling ball-like physique.
She looks like a cartoon character!
She's built like one of those good luck cats.
Look how round she is!
Let me see her face. Oh my gosh, she doesn't even have a neck!

New Vet!

Louie is in his Sherpa on the way to his new vet. We finally had enough of Capitol Hill Vet's rudeness and inconsistency. The final straw was a receptionist pulling attitude when I questioned a change to the procedure of his annual blood draw. (Either they'd been doing it wrong all along or were about to start. Either way was troubling.) I asked to speak with the vet and she hung up on me a minute after she put me on hold. More substantial reasons/grievances follow.

Eat the Treats

Open the tupperware! Give me the treats!

Strombeek's Mother's Day Belly

The thing about making "bite-sized" cookies for cats is that their mouths are really small (even when their bellies are really big). This means that a batch makes between 200-300 cookies. That's a lot of fishy marble-sized balls to roll!

As her Mother's Day present to me, Strombeek plans to put them all in her belly.

Cinco de Mayo Treats

For Christmas the cats got a cat treat cookbook. Strombeek thinks she needs some homemade treats for her Cinco de Mayo piƱata.  How about whipping her up a little something? She may not be losing weight, but she certainly isn't gaining any!

Out the Window

My REI comfort lounger chair finally arrived. Now I can work outside. The cats are jealous. Louie's like, hey, isn't that my lime tree? (See, that's his head peeking out the window, staring at the lime tree hidden behind the pagoda. He's got sharp eyes, that one.)
